LEADERS FOR BETTER SCHOOLS
VOTE THREE FOR SCHOOL BOARD!
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
We must prioritize money to students and teachers. As parents and tax-payers, we deserve better performing Roosevelt schools. The past few years, there have been many positive changes in the district but there is still so much more work to improve the quality of education and the performances of our students. Teachers work so hard and are dedicated to serving our children. We should strive to bring a competitive pay in order to not only retain our teachers, but attract the best teachers to work at Roosevelt.
Academic Achievement and Transparency
It is important for the school board to be building trust and teamwork with parents, assuring curriculum and methods are meeting the learning needs of each child. Assure that the district is using an effective curriculum that uses proper methods to teach children. Parents are the stewards of their children and our schools are being entrusted with educating their children. We need to assure parents their children are being taught their academic standards and that their family culture and faith are respected.
Positive Structure Learning Environments
We must work to ensure each school is a safe place of learning. We should work to help the district strengthen a plan of structure to be implemented throughout the district to assure there are behavioral expectations and help children learn healthy boundaries. Make sure our schools are safe and secure for any situation including infrastructure.
Meet Tatiana Peña, Christianne Ortega + Sandra Jerez!
Tatiana Peña: I am a native to South Phoenix, born to immigrant parents who both taught and retired from Roosevelt District. I attended elementary school in the Roosevelt District and grew up regularly helping my parents in their classrooms.. I completed a Bachelor’s in Multi-lingual/Multi-cultural Education and a Master’s in Public Administration. I have taught pre-school through 1st grade in public, charter, and private schools stateside and internationally. I also have experience teaching music and the arts to children. I believe in offering a variety of educational models to meet the needs of students and families. I have worked in helping find creative educative solutions for children with English language learning needs, dyslexia, language impairment, other health impairments, autism, intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, developmental delay, multiple disabilities, hearing impairment, orthopedic impairment, visual impairment, traumatic brain injury, in the foster system, and emotional/sexual abuse.
I have experience working with innovative and competitive academic programs for gifted children. I regularly work with non-profits – assisting refugees, elderly, children, crisis pregnancy, low-income, mentally ill, and immigrant communities. I have grown organizations, working to build teams, organize and train teams to lead out their objectives. I have managed the finances of organizations including processing necessary paperwork, keeping track of books, helping allocate expenses properly, and collecting revenues.
Currently I lead Arizona over one of the fastest growing national public school parental organizations focused on parental rights. I advocate for transparency with curriculum and age appropriate learning material for our children. As a married mother of 5, I know the importance of our district being a place where families feel they can trust their children are physically, emotionally, mentally, culturally, and spiritually safe. Being raised by Roosevelt teachers, helped me understand how much our teachers’ voices matter. Let’s focus on academics and not overburden teachers with bureaucracy. Roosevelt District is one of South Phoenix’s largest employers. If Roosevelt is more successful, South Phoenix will be too! I am committed to help the district grow more successfully!

Tatiana Peña, Christianne Ortega, and Sandra Jerez are running to address fiscal responsibility in our schools, enhance academic transparency and achievement, and to ensure a positive, structured learning environment for our students.
As parents and taxpayers, we deserve better performing Roosevelt schools. While we have made some positive changes, there is still so much more work to be done in improving the quality of our children’s education.
We should strive to bring competitive pay in order to not only retain our teachers, but to attract the best teachers to work at Roosevelt.
We must build trust and work with parents on academic achievement and transparency. We should be assessing curriculum and methods to meet the needs of each student. We ought to assure parents that their children are being taught and that their family cultures and faith will be respected in the classroom. We must preserve parental rights!
Our schools should be safe and secure so that our children can learn in peace and work with the district to strengthen a plan of structure to assure and enforce behavioral expectations.
Roosevelt schools need a new direction and serious accountability – we hope you agree with our mission.
Your neighbors,
Tatiana, Christianne, and Sandra
